These last few days my daughter and I have been working through our Nintendo Labo. For those who don’t know this is a box of A3 cardboard sheets that you pop out and fold into tactile games.
For both child and adult it’s a fantastic experience. You see the physical games building right before your eyes. You have a game cartridge that gives you the instructions. The console plays some fun music.
The results are you create a working piano, a fishing set, an interactive toy house or even a virtual reality set. Out of nothing but cardboard!
Who thought of this idea? It’s amazing. Nintendo has always been at the sharp end of innovation, more often than not ahead of its time.
This is a great example of making products that play on the emotions of your audience. The thing that makes it special is the way technology interacts with the physical. The digital experience is perfect.
As we turn our focus to 2021. How will this insight help your portfolio companies create new value?
